All stained glass art pieces at Lighted Path Art Studio are custom designed from start to finish. First, a pattern is imagined and drawn by hand. Next, glass is chosen for each piece of the design, special attention being paid to contrasting colors, opacities, textures, and finishes. This ensures a final product that is visually stunning and unique. After the glass selection, the glass is cut by hand to fit the custom pattern, and then ground along the edges to ensure a perfect fit. Next, the glass pieces are cleaned and then wrapped individually in copper foil tape. The art begins to really come together, as the full glass design is pinned in place and soldering begins. Before soldering is complete, a wire is wrapped around the entire outside edge and is covered in solder. This added step makes our pieces extra-strong and durable. Finally, the finished piece is cleaned, treated with patina as necessary to change the solder color, and polished with wax. So many steps and so much care go into each piece created!
